Expert help with the building your collection lives in

Our team combines expertise in preventive conservation, facilities management, HVAC systems, and energy efficiency to help museums, libraries, archives, and cultural heritage organizations develop practical, sustainable solutions that protect collections while improving building performance and reducing operating costs.

Protecting the collection and protecting the environment don’t have to be at odds – for many organizations, it’s possible to create a better collection environment and also reduce your carbon footprint.

How We Can Help

Evaluating Your Existing Systems and Spaces

Data Analysis & Interpretation

We help you evaluate your data and teach you how to assess and manage your collection spaces.

  • Regular reviews — monthly, quarterly, or annual
  • Focused analysis of problem spaces or sensors
  • Written reports or a live expert walkthrough
  • Performance assessments with prioritised recommendations

Mechanical Systems Assessment

Understand when it’s time to repair, upgrade, or replace aging HVAC equipment.

  • HVAC evaluation — equipment, controls, sequences, setpoints
  • Where the system fights itself, or the building
  • Climate strategy for the collection you actually have
  • Written findings and recommendations

Energy Efficiency Analysis

Reduce operating costs while maintaining or improving preservation quality.

  • Where energy is being wasted
  • Setpoint, scheduling and seasonal strategy
  • Efficiency measures that don’t compromise preservation targets
  • Documentation for sustainability reporting and funding applications

Planning For the Future

Design Review & Owner's Representation

We advocate for your collection’s needs throughout the design and construction process.

  • Review of proposed HVAC and building system designs
  • Preservation requirements translated into buildable specifications
  • Representation of collections interests with architects, engineers and contractors
  • Review of contractor proposals and installed work

Capital & Infrastructure Planning

Prepare for future HVAC replacement projects with confidence.

  • Condition and remaining-life assessment
  • Priorities ranked by preservation risk, not equipment age
  • Phased plans that fit real budget cycles
  • Documentation for grants and board approval

What You Walk Away With

A clear answer

Problems aren’t always self-announcing. We can help identify and clarify the environmental issues your facility is facing.

Reduced Energy Use

We evaluate HVAC operation and recommend improvements — from operational changes to equipment upgrades and sustainable preservation strategies.

Stability without new equipment

A new system is not always the answer. Sometimes you can do better with what you have.

A shared language with facilities

We work with you and your facilities team to help you communicate effectively and stay on the same page.

Documented Plan

We deliver a report outlining all issues with the collection environment and identify how these can affect your collection.

An actionable list of priorities

You can’t move forward without a plan. We’ll help you prioritize your issues into actionable steps and point you in the right direction.

Not seeing what you need?

Every institution is different, and we can point you to the right specialist even if that it isn’t us.
