Conserv water emergency webinar series

Water damage, whether from a leaking pipe or a catastrophic hurricane, poses a risk to collections everywhere.

This winter, review best practices for preventing and responding to water emergencies.

Join us for a free 3-part webinar series looking at water risk and risk assessment, initial response to water incidents, and real-world stories from collections that have dealt with different types of water incidents.

Guest speakers will share their experiences, and you’ll get a look at how Conserv’s software can help detect, document and prevent water incidents.

Conservators on our team will briefly highlight features of Conserv’s software related to water risk, including a mold risk indicator, the ability to make observations, and alerts for high relative humidity and leak detection.

All three webinars will include time to answer your questions live!

What will we cover in the water emergency webinar series?

1. Water Risk and Your Collection

Water damage, whether from a leaking pipe or a catastrophic hurricane, poses a risk to collections everywhere. How can we use a risk assessment framework to be ready for water related mishaps and emergencies? Once water risks have been identified, what kind of plans and preparations can your institution make to minimize water related damage in the event of an emergency, and what resources are available to help you?

Our speaker is Rebecca Kennedy of Curae Collections Care, LLC. Becca will draw upon her extensive emergency preparedness & response experience to provide attendees with clear, actionable water risk assessment guidance, and highlight useful resources

2. Water Incidents: Initial Response

A water incident has occurred. What do you do? How does response differ for minor, moderate and severe incidents, and how do you tell the difference? What can institutions tackle on their own, and how do you work with first responders after a more severe incident? How can institutions use the information gained from a risk assessment (webinar 1) to inform their response?

Rebecca Kennedy of Curae Collections Care, LLC returns as our guest speaker. Becca will draw upon her extensive emergency preparedness & response experience to provide attendees with initial response guidance, and highlight useful resources.

3. Water Incidents: Case Studies

In the final webinar of Conserv’s water emergency series, staff from the Oakland Museum of California and the Museum of Flight will share their experiences with water incidents. Hear what they learned, what resources they found helpful, and how they prepare for future water emergencies.

Our speakers are Violetta Wolf, Director of Collections at the Oakland Museum of California, and Sarah Frederick, Collections Manager at The Museum of Flight.
